Scotland’s Sports Minister will be our special guest at Saturday’s Ladbrokes League Two match against Annan Athletic at Ochilview.
Jamie Hepburn MSP will be there to recognise the achievement of our Shire Galaxy 2002 community team, who made a significant impact earlier this year by winning a prestigious international football tournament in Amsterdam.
Mr Hepburn will be on hand to present the boys with the handsome tournament trophy they picked up in the Easter holiday event, in which the team defeated clubs from all over northern Europe.
“It’s a fantastic thing for the players to be acknowledged by Scotland’s government minister for sport in this way,” said Shire chairman, Alan Archibald. “It also is a tremendous thing for our Shire Galaxy community football project as a whole.
“We are sure the boys and their families will have a great day at the Annan game and we hope their achievement can inspire us all, including the first team.”
East Stirlingshire Galaxy is the football club’s community football project supported by Galaxy Sports Ltd. It runs community football teams at a wide range of age levels and runs coaching courses for young people from nursery age children to teenagers.
It also provides opportunities to play football for teenagers though its Midnight Leagues and also for adults with learning disabilities in conjunction with Forth Valley Disability Sport.
